12th-Grade Program - CIT
Our Counselor in Training (CIT) program is open to campers entering 12th grade. Participants will get to enjoy Camp as campers, exploring activities designed just for them. At the same time, they’ll get a hearty introduction to the life of counselor, apprenticing with seasoned pros to see what the madrich/a life is all about! They will not have sole responsibility for campers - they will always have the support of staff and administration.
Instead of living in their own bunk, CITs join a counselor team in a cabin with one aidah (age group). In this fully immersive setting, they get more than hands-on training in every aspect of bunk life; they also begin developing the incredible “soft” skills that hiring managers look for in every job setting—communication, teamwork, leadership, and more.
They’re not “on the job” all the time, though. CITs get time off every day and opportunities to see each other and enjoy the camp life. (And did we mention that CITs not only have a better chance of being hired by CYJ in the future, but they also receive a higher salary to recognize their superior training?) CITs will also trips outside of camp to places such as UT Austin as well as surprise fun outings for CIT bonding!
So, if you’re looking for a summer that’s both rewarding and fun and you want to grow in your CYJ experience, then Sign up to be a CIT today! You don’t want to miss this unforgettable program!
