Opening Day Transportation
During the Passover Seder, we recount our 40-year journey through the desert. Unless you're into long, hot walks to Wimberley, we figure reliable transportation is a pretty close second in importance. So let's talk about how your camper actually gets here.
How Does My Child Get to Camp?
Three ways in, take your pick:
-
Bus – from Houston or Dallas on Opening Day
-
Plane – fly into Austin, and we'll handle the rest
-
Car – drive straight to 121 Camp Young Judaea Dr, Woodcreek, TX 78676
Whatever you choose, make sure it's on your transportation form — that little form is the difference between us knowing exactly who to expect and us doing a very confused headcount.

A quick note for our short-session families: the Opening Day bus is available to Nitzanim campers, but Alonim and Mini Mensch campers are car drop-off only — no bus option for those start dates. Check the short-session calendar for exact dates and drop-off times.
Staff ride along the whole way with snacks, drinks, and movies, so nobody's asking "are we there yet" except possibly me, every summer, about the construction projects.
How Does Airport Pickup Work for Flying Campers?
Flying is a great option if you're coming from further out.
-
Book flights to camp landing at Austin-Bergstrom (AUS) between 8:00 am–12:00 pm on Opening Day
-
CYJ staff meet campers at the airport and drive them straight to camp
If your best option is San Antonio instead, that can work too — just coordinate with us before booking anything outside these windows. And please, familiarize yourself with your airline's unaccompanied minor policy and pay those fees ahead of time; it makes everyone's day easier, especially your camper's.
Can I Drive My Child Directly?
Absolutely — most families drop off kids at camp and send them home on buses. For drop-off:
-
Opening Day arrival window: 10:00 am–12:00 pm
How Do I Ship Luggage?
Label everything with your camper's name before it heads to camp. By day two, thirty identical duffel bags all look the same, and I say this from 28 years of experience finding "my" water bottle in someone else's bunk.
