International Camper Information
Flying in from overseas? A few things are different for you — here's what to know.
Do I need to bring bedding and towels?
Not necessarily. We can provide bedding and towels for $36 for the summer — a lot less schlep than packing sheets and towels across an ocean, especially when suitcase space is already tight. Just order and pay for it in advance in your account.
What's the lice policy?
We have a zero-tolerance policy for lice. Please check your camper's hair a few days before they travel to camp — catching it before the flight is a lot easier than dealing with it after a long trip and jet lag. This isn't just an international-camper rule (every camper gets checked at Opening Day), but with a longer journey to camp, it's worth double-checking at home first.
What happens to my camper's passport?
On arrival, campers stop by the camp office to turn in their passport, along with any electronics (phones, tablets, etc.). Everything gets placed in our office safe for the duration of the session — no digging through a cubby to find a passport, and no international incident when it turns out to be missing three weeks later (we've heard worse camp horror stories than that, trust us).
What about electronics and staying in touch?
Same rule as every other camper: no phones or tablets during the session — part of what makes the CYJ experience what it is.
Questions? Reach out to our office well before Opening Day — international logistics go smoother with a head start.
