Closing Day and Departure
The one day of summer where the crying isn't from homesickness — it's from having to leave. Here's how it works.
When is Closing Day?
Session One: Tuesday, July 7, 2026 Session Two: Tuesday, August 4, 2026
Nitzanim and Mini Mensch campers wrap up on their own short-session schedule and are picked up by car when their program ends mid-session.
How do most campers get home?
After all the hugs (and yes, plenty of tears — from campers and staff, we're not too tough to admit it), about 98% of campers head home by bus or plane, not by car pickup. It's just easier: no traffic, no parking, no standing in the Texas heat waiting for the right cabin group to come out.

What about flying campers?
Campers flying home should be booked on flights departing Austin-Bergstrom (AUS) between 8:00 am and 1:00 pm. Our staff take campers through security and wait at the gate until the plane actually leaves the ground — we don't just drop them off and wave.
If a flight outside that window is your only option or you need to use San Antonio International Airport
(SAT), please coordinate with us before booking.
Can I still pick my camper up by car?
Of course — some families prefer it, and we're happy to have you at 9:30 am. Just know you'll be part of the 2% doing it the old-fashioned way, driving straight to camp instead of meeting a bus in your city.
Anything else worth knowing?
Have tissues ready — for you and for them. It's a good sign, honestly: it means the summer worked.
